Two Wilmington schools released from sheltering in place

November 16, 2015

WILMINGTON -- An order for two schools to shelter in place was lifted, according to New Hanover County dispatch.

An activation of ShotSpotter, the city's gunfire detection system, at 8:34 a.m. indicated shots fired on Evans Street. The activation prompted the alert at Rachel B. Freeman and the Career Readiness Center, both on nearby Princess Place Drive.

No evidence of gunshots was located and the schools were released shortly after, a dispatcher said.
