Two vehicles and a home hit with gunfire in Paterson

September 03, 2015

PATERSON - Police officers responding to reports of gunfire Wednesday night in the 4th Ward determined that two empty vehicles and a home had been struck by bullets, but no one was hurt, authorities said.

Police learned of the shooting when the city's ShotSpotter equipment was activated in the North York Street area at about 10:40 pm, officers said.

Investigators found spent shell casings and located two vehicles that had been hit multiple times, police said. The bullet that struck the home did not penetrate the inside of the dwelling, police said.

At this point, police said, there's no indication that the incident was anything more than someone firing random gunshots on the street.
