Two injured in New Haven shooting

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Police are looking for leads in a shooting that left two people injured Sunday night.

Officers said they were dispatched to 711 Winchester Avenue around 9 p.m. after a ShotSpotter detection system alerted them that shots had been  fired in the area.

When police arrived on scene, they said they located two victims in a nearby back yard suffering from gunshot wounds to their legs.

The victims, 20-year-old Darrell Stokes and 19-year-old Devin Myles, both of New Haven, were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers said they also found a parked car that had been struck and ballistic evidence at the scene.

Police said they do not have a description of the shooter or the car the shooter fled in.
