Police Respond to Shotspotter Alert and Locate Gunshot Victim

Worcester, MA (August 17, 2015) - On Monday, August 17, 2015 at approximately 1:25 a.m. Worcester police were alerted by ShotSpotter (gunshot detection system) of a shooting in the vicinity of 965 Main Street. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old male on the ground in the doorway of Tedeschi Food Shops. The male was holding his right leg and told officers he had been shot. Officers attended to male until Worcester EMS arrived on scene. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries which are considered non-life threatening.

There is limited suspect information at this time.

Detectives are actively working to determine the circumstances surround the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. More information will be released when it becomes available.
