Police investigating after 2 men shot in Highland Park

PITTSBURGH —Two teenagers were shot in Highland Park Saturday afternoon, police said.

Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said officers received a ShotSpotter notification that seven rounds had been fired in the 5000 block of Stanton Avenue at 3:23 p.m.When officers arrived, they found the two wounded young men on Samantha Way.

Paramedics transported the victims, an 18-year-old from Homestead and a 17-year-old from Hazelwood, to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where they were reported in stable condition.

According to the investigation, the shots were fired near the intersection of Portland and Janero streets.

Four men were seeing running. Two of the four were shot.

A gun, believed to have been discarded by one of the four, was found at the scene.

The Police Department's Group Violence Intervention Unit is continuing the investigation.
