Peoria police respond to several ShotSpotter alerts Friday night

Police responding to several ShotSpotter alerts Friday night made an arrest after the first one but found no shell casings.

Officers responded about 7:30 p.m. to an alert of five rounds fired in the 2000 block of West Lincoln Avenue, according to a Peoria police report.

Witnesses said a man wearing a gray hoodie was seen running from the area. A man matching that description was arrested a few minutes later in the 2000 block of West Howett Street. He was charged with unlawful use of weapon and not having a FOID card.

Officers also responded about 7:50 p.m. to an alert of one round fired in the 700 block of Northeast Perry Avenue, and another about 11:30 p.m. of two rounds fired in the 500 block of Tracy Street.

Police found no shell casings or property damage after responding to the alerts.
