December 31, 2015

WEST PALM BEACH  (CBS12) --With celebrations expected all over Palm Beach County.

Law enforcement will be heavy including in Riviera Beach. Where police will use their  "ShotSpotter technology" a system that detects the location of gun fire using sensors.

Call it a sign of the times but security is a major concern all over the country.

For many people, iconic Times Square in New York City is the epitome of New Years Eve.

However, with the recent terror attacks around the country, security more than ever is a major concern.

A heavy law enforcement presence will be visible on the streets from the Big Apple to Las Vegas and even right here in Palm Beach County.

Riviera Beach Police Department's Public Information Officer, Rose Ann Brown there is a need for extra security.

" What we do is look at what's happened historically at what has happened in certain areas and then we deploy officers and to keep everyone safe."

On Clematis Street in West Palm Beach, where a lot of people are expected to ring in the new year, many residents including Toronda Black, like the idea of having a larger security presence.

" I think it's a great thing there will be a lot of young people out here and families it's an event for everyone."

Whether your celebrating the New Year's Eve  in Delray, Riviera Beach or in West Palm Beach.

Law enforcement will be there, but they say if you see something,  say something safety is priority number one  for everybody.
