August 11, 2016

HARTFORD — A man was shot in the arm while sitting in a car in the city's South End early Thursday, police said.

The ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alerted police to the shooting outside 127 Standish St. about 2 a.m., they said. Officers found a man and a woman sitting in a vehicle, the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his right arm.

They told police that an occupant of an SUV traveling west on Standish Street opened fire on them, Sgt. Louis Ruiz said.

They had no suspect description and didn't know why they would be targeted, he said.
