July 26, 2017

One man was injured after a shooting in Belle Glade Tuesday evening, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were responded to reports of a shooting on the 600 block of Southwest Avenue D, just north of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and west of Main Street, just after 7 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound. Spokeswoman Teri Barbera said deputies were alerted to the shooting because of the city’s ShotSpotter detection system. ShotSpotter uses sensors to alert authorities to gunfire in city neighborhoods.

The unidentified man was taken to a hospital for his injuries, the sheriff’s office said. He is expected to survive.
