Man hurt in afternoon shooting in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say a man was taken to the hospital after a shooting Saturday afternoon in the Hillcrest Community.

Police say they got a ShotSpotter alert around 4 p.m. of multiple shots fired. When officers arrived, they say they found a man in his early 30s, who had been shot in the leg. According to a WPD news release, EMS took the man to the hospital. Police say his injuries are not life threatening.
