Finest Technology Helps New York’s Finest Take Two Gun Off The Streets

December 08, 2015

Cops in Brooklyn arrested three people and recovered two illegal handguns late Friday night with the help of the NYPD’s newest technology. Sergeant Lewis and Police Officers Allen, George and Lawrence responded to 409 Saratoga Avenue after receiving an alert from ShotSpotter of shots fired.  The officers began investigating after their arrival and found eight shell casings on the rooftop of the building.

The team immediately used their NYPD issued smartphones to ascertain if any of the building’s residents had active arrest warrants. Their search revealed that a resident did have an outstanding warrant.  After knocking on the apartment door, the officers were met by the woman with the outstanding warrant and further investigation led the officers to observing bullets on a table in the apartment.  At this time, the woman and two men who were also in the apartment were placed under arrest and the officers requested a search warrant for the location.  After being granted the search warrant the team of officers recovered two loaded semi-automatic handguns.  All three individuals were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
