August 24, 2015
Milwaukee police are crediting their ShotSpotter system for helping them catch a felon found walking on the city's north side with a gun in his hand.
Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, ShotSpotter, a gunfire locator system, alerted officers to the 4100 block of N. 27th St., where they found the man walking with the gun.
Police say the suspect, a 28-year-old Milwaukee man, threw the handgun into a field before being taken into custody. The gun was recovered.
The man has a criminal record that includes felony drug charges, police said in an online news release, and after his arrest a breath test found he had a blood alcohol level of .24, three times the level considered legal proof of intoxication in Wisconsin.Journal Sentinel
