3 injured by gunfire, 1 critically, in Homewood

Officers respond to ShotSpotter notification after midnight

PITTSBURGH —Police are investigating a shooting early Saturday morning in Homewood. According to assistant Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Emily Schaffer, officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification in the 7300 block of Race Street just after midnight.Schaffer said officers discovered a man in his early 20s who had been shot. Paramedics arrived on scene and transported him to UPMC Presbyterian in critical condition.

Another man, also in his early 20s, self-reported to Shadyside Hospital and was later transported to UPMC Presbyterian in critical condition. A 19-year-old woman also self-reported to Children’s Hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound.

Schaffer said several vehicles were damaged by gunfire on Race Street.

The investigating is ongoing.
