3 charged in multiple Atlantic City shooting

March 24, 2017

ATLANTIC CITY-- An investigation has led to the arrests of three city men in a March 1 shooting that left two other men wounded, police said in a statement Thursday.

A ShotSpotter detection device was activated around 4:20 a.m. in the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue, where police found two men who had suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Police eventually identified Iree Jones, 23, Shawn Smith, 24, and Abdul Sanderlin, 23, as the suspects.

Police conducting surveillance saw Jones enter the Roadway Inn Wednesday. Jones was arrested and a search warrant was executed for his room, where officers found a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen in Northfield in January.

Around 1:35 a.m. Thursday, State Police pulled over a vehicle on Rt. 30 in Absecon and arrested Smith and Sanderlin. Police also allegedly discovered heroin and cocaine in the vehicle.

The three have each been charged with aggravated assault, weapons offenses and conspiracy. They were being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
