1 shot dead, 2 wounded in ambush at Brooklyn building: NYPD

August 13, 2015

A madman shot three men in Brooklyn on Thursday — killing one — after ambushing them in the entryway of an apartment building, authorities and witnesses said.

The attacker began blasting as he stepped out of a dark-colored Mitsubishi on Saratoga Ave. near Livonia Ave. in Brownsville at 8:14 p.m., police sources said.

“I couldn’t even count the shots,” said witness Burchell Marcus.

The gunman, who hid his face with a bandanna, pursued his victims into the building. A second door was locked and the trio found themselves trapped in the vestibule, the stepfather of one victim said.

“He ran out of bullets or he would have killed all three of them,” said the stepdad of Taariq Smith, 20, who was shot twice in the left arm.

Isaiah Cicero, 21, shot in his chest and stomach, died at Brookdale Hospital, police sources and family said. His grief-stricken mother was seen being carried from the hospital by relatives.

“Isaiah was funny and outgoing and loved to make people laugh,” the slain man’s cousin said.

An 18-year-old man was also shot in the arm.

The gunshots set off a nearby ShotSpotter, which brought cops rushing to the scene. The gunman was at large Friday, police said.
