PR & Marketing Specialist

We are looking for a PR & Marketing Specialist to assist in day-to-day marketing efforts and support a variety of initiatives across the marketing department including Public Relations, Demand Generation & Events, Content, and Product Management. Example projects for this role:

  • Public Relations – manage communications with police media representatives, coordinate with our PR agency on inbound media requests, enhance our media kit and manage subscriptions with news services
  • Demand Generation & Events – manage selected event sponsorships and work with our event agency for select events. Manage the marketing calendar and inventory of promotional items
  • Content and Brand – assist with posting website content additions, manage trademark assets and stay on top of new filings, schedule social media and blog posts
  • Internal Events – Help plan internal All Hands meetings, coordinate Advisory Board meetings with members, generate new ideas for employee branded items
  • Product – assist with research related to our own products or that of competitors

This position reports to the SVP of Marketing & Product Management.

Experience and Skills Required

  • BS or BA degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or relevant field
  • 1-3 years of business experience including work in PR/communications firm
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Project management and analytical skills
  • Event planning skills a plus
  • Hungry to learn new things and achieve
  • A team player who can work collaboratively
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work with little supervision (especially in a remote work environment)
  • High energy and enthusiasm
  • Quick learner and someone who takes direction
  • Versatile
  • Creative thinking – ability to constantly look for new ideas and solutions to barriers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment preferred

Position location: Preferred in SF Bay area, but open to remote.
