How ShotSpotter GLS Solutions Work
Every ShotSpotter GLS solution contains three components; a network of acoustic sensors, the ShotSpotter Location Server, and the ShotSpotter Public Safety Console (PSC) user interface. When a gunshot or explosion occurs within a ShotSpotter GLS coverage area, it detects, locates, identifies, and classifies the sound in seconds. Alerts include event type, event audio, location, duration, incident mapping and graphical displays, giving users actionable intelligence for rapid, accurate assessment. This information is immediately relayed to personnel via the ShotSpotter PSC. This easy-to-use interface can be used in a command center or in-field; ensuring users are armed with essential incident data.
ShotSpotter’s patented wide-area acoustic surveillance technology uses the physics of sound propagation and triangulation to determine the precise location of where the sound originated. Sophisticated audio analytics allow raw sound to be identified and classified based on consistent and unique sonic characteristics.
ShotSpotter has several products to suit different customer needs: systems for fixed, long-term installation and a portable and reusable system for temporary, short-term deployments. All ShotSpotter systems easily integrate with and enhance command and control and existing and future security systems. When interfaced to video systems, a ShotSpotter GLS directs surveillance cameras to automatically monitor the incident and send incident data in real-time to personnel at any location.
