Public Safety Solutions

Law enforcement agencies using a ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System® (GLS) report reductions of violent crime by as much as 40 percent and overall reductions of gunfire by as much as 80 percent.

Saving lives, catching perpetrators, confiscating weapons are essential to fighting crime and maintaining security and law and order in the communities that they protect and serve. With real-time alerts and ongoing intelligence data from a ShotSpotter GLS, agencies have a tool that gives them the essential and actionable information needed to accomplish these tasks.

Real-time alerts, when integrated into dispatch operations, enable safe and rapid responses to crime scenes with an appropriate force response. Real-time alerts also support zero-tolerance missions enabling responders to immediately approach a crime scene, display a show of force, restore law and order, and leave a lasting deterrence effect. Alert data includes the incident type, audio clips of the incident, an exact location marked onto a map image and cross-referenced to the nearest street address, and the duration of the incident.

Real-time gunfire incident alerts have helped improve officer response time, resulting in increased arrests, additional lives saved, and a greater number of illegal weapons removed from our streets. For specific examples, view our customers' results

Data for intelligence-led policing

Accumulated incident data is useful during CompStat reviews to drive intelligence-led policing and targeted anti-crime missions. Reporting of incidents to 9-1-1 dispatch centers results in an inaccurate and inconsistent view of what is really occurring. Where a ShotSpotter GLS is installed, agencies have consistent and more complete intelligence data that readily reveals hotspots and trends to enable commanders to direct patrols and other limited resources to where they’re needed most.

Benefits prosecutions and court cases

Incident data is regularly and successfully used to support eye witness testimony, establish a timeline of events, and aid with crime scene reconstruction. ShotSpotter GLS data can be crucial evidence for use in court proceedings.

Interoperable with other technologies

ShotSpotter systems can be interfaced with existing or future complementary systems to achieve common operating picture fusion. A ShotSpotter GLS can send incident location coordinates to video surveillance systems to direct its cameras to acquire images at the scene of an incident for human review and forensic logging. A ShotSpotter GLS can send incident information to Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to automate the process of creating shots fired calls for service event records. A ShotSpotter GLS can send incident information to regional fusion centers to provide invaluable situational information.

Solutions for Ongoing Gunfire and Violent Crime Suppression

ShotSpotter offers two versions of its Gunshot Location System to meet agency’s ongoing needs to address gunfire and corresponding violent crime activity - the ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System-Stationary Array (GLS-SA) and the ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System-Moveable Array (GLS-MA).

ShotSpotter GLS-Stationary Array

The ShotSpotter GLS-SA is for deploying an acoustic sensing array in areas where gunfire and corresponding violent crime are deep-rooted and the community and agency wish to retain a lasting deterrence effect.

ShotSpotter GLS-Moveable Array

The ShotSpotter GLS-MA enables agencies to shift part or the entire acoustic sensing array to track crime activity when it shifts or is anticipated to shift from one area to another. Wireless cellular data modules and corresponding data communications services are used for data communications to reduce the cost and effort associated with moving groups of sensors.
