During the night, a gun battle erupts around 19th and Main Streets — but emergency personnel in this city are ready. Using historical information provided by their ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System, the city's Crime Analyst has identified this area as a hot-zone. Integrating this data with other crime information, the police department has developed a tactical operation aimed at cleaning up the neighborhood. Extra patrol units are nearby and respond almost immediately to the precise location. They know 8 shots were fired by 3 people traveling northbound in 2 cars. The witnesses are still present, the casings are still warm, and there are no victims. Disaster has been averted. The situation is under control.

A New Way to Fight Violent Crime.

Sense.

A distant, impulse sound 2 miles away can activate a network of ShotSpotter acoustic sensors. When several sensors are activated by the same impulse, the system goes into action. In seconds, the precise orgin of the impulse is triangulated. The system classifies the impulse to distinguish between threatening events such as weapon discharges and non-threatening events such as firecrackers and motorcycles. This plus other vital data is sent over a network to dispatch and command centers for immediate attention and response.

Target.

Knowing the precise geographic location of single incidents and hotspots of activities enables targeted enforcement strategies, from manned surveillance to specific violence suppression and threat-reduction missions.

Protect.

From a single square mile to large and disparate urban zones, the ShotSpotter GLS provides scalable, area protection. Coupled with its audio analytics and reporting, our customers are protecting first-responders, emergency personnel, assets, and public communities.
