Release Description

Release 2012.3.2 delivers new message and communication upgrades to the ShotSpotter Flex software which permit SST to notify customers of impending service or software upgrades, distribute messages regarding new features, and otherwise to stay in touch with all users on a one-by-one basis.  This release also addresses a number of minor issues found in earlier versions of Release 2012.3.

New Feature: Messages (All Consoles)

Both the ShotSpotter Flex Alerts Console and the Incident & Reports Portal software now display system-wide, customer-specific, or even user-specific notifications to users.  Messages are first displayed when a user logs in and then checked periodically thereafter.  They will appear at the top of your application window, where you can quickly read them and then dismiss them.  After today’s upgrade, for example, you will receive the following new message:

In the future, SST will use the messages functionality to notify you about upcoming new releases, system configuration changes, and planned maintenance schedules.  (In some cases, messages will contain Internet links for additional information.  Internet access using a web browser will be necessary to follow those links for additional information, but not to use the ShotSpotter Flex software itself.)

Other Improvements to the ShotSpotter Flex Software

Alert Console

  • On displays with very low resolution (1024x768 SVGA or smaller), map controls were sometimes shown overlapped, making it difficult to select between aerial, bird’s eye, and street maps.  The toolbars have been adjusted to avoid this overlap.
  • An issue was addressed in which beat information was not properly displaying on some incidents.
  • The circle measuring tool has been upgraded to calculate both the radius size of the circle as well as the square area contained within the circle.
  • An issue was addressed in which clicking on a gunfire incident while measuring with a tool could cause the map to scroll unexpectedly.

Incident & Reports Portal

  • Printed (or PDF) Date Range or Search Reports occasionally produced blurry map printouts.  This issue has been corrected, and other minor updates to the Search Report were made.
  • On displays with very low resolution (1024x768 XGA or smaller), map controls were sometimes shown overlapped, making it difficult to select between aerial, bird’s eye, and street maps.  The toolbars have been adjusted to avoid this overlap.
  • An issue was addressed in which beat information was not properly displaying on some incidents.
  • The circle measuring tool has been upgraded to calculate both the radius size of the circle as well as the square area contained within the circle.
  • An issue in which making a selection from the “Group By” menu in the Search Results grid also caused the results to resort has been resolved.
  • An issue was addressed in which clicking on a gunfire incident while measuring with a tool could cause the map to scroll unexpectedly.
