Cisco Releases Latest Solutions for Public Safety

Built on the Cisco Open Network Platform, New Safety and Security Solutions Transform How Public Safety Agencies Secure and Protect Their Communities

SAN JOSE, CA, Nov 08, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- As public safety agencies around the country strive to do more with less and meet mission challenges, Cisco (CSCO) today announced a new set of solutions that will modernize the major functions of public safety, including headquarters and operations, field operations and patrol, emergency communication, and incident command and response. Additionally, Cisco announced a collaboration with IBM, BearingPoint and other industry leading companies to deliver new public safety solutions that help transform how public safety agencies secure and protect their communities.

Cisco will demonstrate these innovative solutions in booth # 5105 at the 115th Annual International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference and Exposition, to be held November 8 - 12, 2008 in San Diego, Calif.

The Positron Public Safety Systems Emergency Communication and Collaboration Platform offers an IP-based citizen-to-authority emergency response solution for global, regional and local public safety agencies. The ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System (GLS) is used for wide-area acoustic surveillance coupled with audio analytics that detect, locate, identify, and classify gunfire and other explosive incidents in seconds and relay mission-essential information to dispatch and field personnel in public safety, homeland security, and military applications.
