Police found evidence of gunfire but no victims at a Fairbanks Street home Monday night.
Police said they were alerted to the shooting by the department's ShotSpotter gunshot detection system around 7:10 p.m.
Officers converged in the area of 9 Fairbanks St. and quickly discovered ballistic evidence; they also discovered that a vehicle had been struck by a projectile. No injuries were reported, and police said they checked with local hospitals but had not located any victims.
Residents in the apartment building told police they heard shots being fired, but were unsure what direction they came from. Neighbors said they heard several loud bangs, but by the time they looked outside, police were already arriving.
Police said officers found witnesses who said two males were seen fleeing the area shortly after the shots rang out; there was limited information other than that they wore hooded sweatshirts.
Officers, detectives, and crime scene officers converged on the short street on Vernon Hill. They went in and out of the house, and pored over a red Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in front of 9 Fairbanks St.
