Police hunt for gunman in Southeast Fresno shooting

FRESNO, Calif. - Police are hunting for a gunman who shot a 16-year-old boy near Alta and Pierce in Southeast Fresno.
The victim was shot several times and is listed in critical condition at Community Regional Medical Center.
Police received a Shot spotter notification just before 8 p.m., as well as calls about shots fired in the area.
Officers said the 16-year-old victim was walking down the street when he was confronted y a man. They exchanged words. A second Hispanic teen or young adult walked up to them, and police said that second person shot the victim multiple times. Police believe the shooting is gang related.
"The victim was struck by gunfire. The suspect continued shooting. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds. Both suspects fled the area," said Fresno Police Lt. Steve Card.
This is the second shooting in Fresno Wednesday. Earlier in the afternoon, a woman discovered her ex-boyfriend shot near Cedar and Shaw.
Fresno had its 39th murder this last weekend, which was the total murder rate for 2016.
