New Haven Register, New Haven
A 22-year-old man was shot near Lincoln-Bassett School early Wednesday morning, police said.
The man was shot in the back but his wound is not life-threatening, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.
Officers were dispatched to Butler Street after ShotSpotter reported gunfire in the area just after 12:30 a.m., according to police. That notification was followed by several 911 callers who’d heard the same thing, police said.
ShotSpotter, a gunfire detection system, indicated at least 16 rounds were fired and multiple shell casings were found, according to News 8-WTNH.
There are multiple suspects in the shooting, and all were dressed in black, police said. The shooting remains under investigation.
Anyone with information valuable to detectives is asked to call 203-946-6304. Calls may be made anonymously, police said.
