About our Guest Speaker:
Lieutenant Ryan Hepler, Rocky Mount Police Department

Lieutenant Hepler has served with the Rocky Mount Police Department since 2005 and has been an advocate for reducing illegal celebratory gunfire since he joined the department. During his tenure, he has worked as a patrol officer, senior police officer, corporal, Detective, Sergeant of Planning, and is currently assigned Patrol Lieutenant.

He is also the acting police department trainer for ShotSpotter and is responsible for implementing the ShotSpotter program. Lieutenant Hepler has completed the West Point Leadership Course through Methodist University and the Dr. Stephen Covey 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Course.  He is currently enrolled in Administrative Officers Management Program (AOMP) at North Carolina State University and has a BA Communication degree from California University of Pennsylvania.

About our Moderator:
Ed Flosi, Director of Customer Success/Training, SST, Inc.

Ed Flosi is the Customer Success Director/Training at SST. He is a retired police sergeant from the San Jose Police Department (California). He has been in law enforcement for more than 27 years. Ed has a unique combination of practical real world experience and an academic background. He has worked several assignments including: Field Training Program, In-Service Training Unit, Narcotics Enforcement Team, Narcotics Covert Investigations, Special Operations — K9 Handler, Research and Development (Policy and Procedures), and Custody Facility Supervisor.

Ed was a lead instructor for use-of-force training, as well as defense and arrest tactics for the San Jose Police Department and for the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium. He has assisted the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) in providing expertise on several occasions related to use-of-force training. He has a Master of Science degree from California State University Long Beach and holds an Adult Learning Teaching Credential from the State of California. He is an adjunct instructor at West Valley College in the Administration of Justice Department.
