Lead Development and Telemarketing (Inside Sales Specialist)

Job Overview
The Inside Sales Specialist is an outgoing and energetic individual who develops relationships with prospective customers, uncovers sales opportunities, and contributes to an efficient sales and marketing process. The Inside Sales Specialist’s primary job entails the sourcing, contacting (via telephone and email), qualification, and development of law enforcement and other government agencies that have been targeted as potential customers.
ShotSpotter will provide several target lists, but will require the associate to research additional contacts and opportunities, as instructed. The representative is responsible for identifying the key agency contacts, identifying the potential for a sales opportunity, and enabling the sales team to follow up when most appropriate.
This position requires a high level of energy, organization and keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with marketing and sales management to drive a world-class lead development and telemarketing operation
- Strategize, develop, and implement lead generation and nurturing programs and processes to build relationships with prospective customers
- Perform account research and organization relationship mapping
- Work with sales to identify target companies and generate qualified leads within those accounts
- Qualify inbound sales inquiries from multiple channels including phone, web and e-mail
- Actively make outbound cold calls to find qualified leads and use a predetermined set of criteria to qualify the prospect as a good lead
- Continually improve lead qualification processes
- Using experience and tact, get past the “gatekeeper,” and determine main contact to be relayed to the sales team
- Educate prospective customers on solutions and provide funding information
- Develop call and email scripts
- Update prospect database with activities and any new contact names
- Contact 20 or more agencies a week
- Manage and prioritize lead development pipeline
- Provide regular reports to marketing and sales staff
- Support general sales and marketing needs
The ideal candidate will have the following functional expertise
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Ability to understand and convey high-tech product concepts and features
- Highly-evolved telemarketing skills including the ability to engage in meaningful conversations with executives as well as mid-level managers
- Ability to navigate to the decision maker
- High level of motivation to make phone calls to generate business
- Proven track record of performance (telemarketing rep awards, etc.)
- Desire to perform at the highest levels and surpass past quota
- High desire to enhance the prospect database with new contact names and meticulously record activities with prospects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and using the Internet for detailed research
- Experience with CRM systems (NetSuite a plus)
- Experience with data entry and reporting
- Solid references
- An undergraduate degree (preferred)
- 1-5 years of experience in lead development and/or telemarketing (preferred but not mandatory)
- Experience with technology/law enforcement/government/military companies and technologies ( desirable but not mandatory)
